well, it seems like i am going to ruin the domination of raypublishers' topic at this section of the board.

the last month i was trying to get "closer" to my classmates and to the others from my highschool.

Dude, relax. Stop falling in love with every other girl you see.

You see school girls are simple creatures. Usually pretty shallow and not worth getting too worked up about. It would, however be a good time to get your confidence up and learn some GAME. You have any game? Doesn't sound like it.

Take care of yourself. Work out, dress nicely, do something you're good at. Above all, do YOUR thing. Live your life for you right now, and if a girl likes you for who and what you are, then maybe she's worth your time.

In the meantime, chat them up now and then. Don't ask them out or try and see if they like you, just be friends. You need to learn how to talk to them. Be friends, but DO NOT GET FRIENDZONED. Friend zone = hell.

Be glad you woke up when you're young.

you know, to fit in....to be a part of our own family or group and not be a total nerd or contrarian.. we hold our tongue.

we smile and nod.. but, then....there is at least one thing we just can't go along with because it is too important.. why?

because we are a total snob.

I don't even like going to a friends house for steak unless I know he knows how to prepare it. I cringe when I hear "I've been marinating these all day!"

Are disfellowshipings proportionately increasing or decreasing?

i have been re-reading chapter 10 of ray franz's brilliant book "in search of christian freedom" (must reading for every borean-like jw and former jw), and i note that on page 315 it says that in 1995 there were 36,638 disfellowshipped, and 37,426 deepfried in 1996.. are there any statistics that show whether the number of expelled persons is increasing or decreasing proportionate to the number of publishers each year since then?

You could figure it out yourself, it would be quite a bit of work but if you do it please post up your findings!

The Borg doesn't publish their DFing numbers, so you would have to find figures for total baptisms, total pubs, and then factor in the average death rate for those years. Your results wouldn't be conclusive, but the numbers could be interesting. It doesn't feel like more DFings lately, but that could just be where I am.

An increase would be awesome. A mass exodus would be even better!

When You Were A JW Were You Disturbed By "Apostate" Literature or "Apostates" At Conventions?

I remember when I was a kid there were always people picketing outside the DA in Vancouver. My dad told me to not even look at them as we walked by. Honestly they just seemed crazy. I don't think they had the effect they meant to.. Or maybe they did?

In the town where I lived a few years ago the was a very old guy who had a big sign on his little old red car that said CHRIST'S WITNESS and a website URL underneath as he drove very slowly around town. One time he was picketing our little local KH with a big cross. As we walked by he said something about the watchtower... Didn't hear exactly.i believe he died a couple years ago.

Does anyone know the town or the old fella I'm talking about? I can't say where, still undercover.

Thinking of becoming a JW.

hi,.

i am new to here so please be bear with me.. i have always believed in god, but was never baptised, my parents wanted me to make up my own mind religon wise.. i am thinking of becoming a jw and am just needing some advice on how to do this, bible study and jw beliefs.

also do jw say grace and how.. i am greatful of any help.. thanks.

The word and meaning of grace is not in the JW bible. Instead it says 'exercise faith'. They do this to support a salvation by works theology.

If you mean do they pray... Yes they do, but you will hear them thank big J for the faithful slave and 'spiritual food' every prayer, and just a token mention of Jesus, as in "we pray through your son Christ Jesus."

If a legalistic rule system that controls members by fear and guilt that will hide the true meaning of the scriptures sounds good to you, by all means become a JW. If not, don't walk away...

I'm doing better than ever. Aside from the looming showdown with family about jw stuff....

I married to the best woman I know, who I WILL bring out of the Borg... Someday. Soon. I'm planting one seed at a time.

Other than that, I started a new job this summer that I LOVE with a great company and a big raise and awesome job security.

Just bought a beautiful new house, getting settled in. From where I'm sitting, life is looking pretty damn good. And as I look forward to five years from now, if all goes as planned it will just get even better. Getting rid of the JW programming of guilt, fear and shame was the best thing that ever happened to me.

Once a cheater always a cheater?

i caught my boyfriend of 8 years cheating on me about a month ago.

he claims it is the only time he has ever cheated and he never thought he would ever cheat nor would he ever do it again.

some of my friends are upset at me saying i should have left him immeditately.

Did you ever shun people when you were a dub? How did it feel?

okay, i don't know lots of people that were df'd, but of all the times i've encountered df people when i was a dub, they actually blanked me!

it was always something that i had fixed in my mind that the jws had dead wrong, even when i was an uber dub.

i remember several times when i used to arrive late at meetings, and i'd make a point of getting eye contact with the poor dub at the back sitting on the naughty step.

Yes... My mom. She was DF'ed a few years ago, and I did shun.

Oh how we all rejoiced when she decided to restore her relationship with Jehovah! Actually even for a while after, I didn't treat her very well and didn't trust her. Looking back, it was definitely a conditioned response from the mind control, no question about it.

Just like nicolau, I felt terrible once I woke up. She was DF'ed again about 6 months ago. I eventually called her and apologized for the way I treated her last time she was differs, and it won't happen again. I told her that this would be a good time for us to work on our relationship.

Her response? "That sounds nice, but its not right. It's Jehovah's arrangement!"

I told her I have tried to find a true scriptural basis for shunning, and there isn't one. Would a God of love force us to shun our family? What would Jesus have done?

"Well... It's just not right. It's the arrangement and we have to follow it".

She obviously is still in mentally which must be torture, especially living in a small town.

I wonder if she would shun me if we were both Diffed? I'm sure if that were the case she would try to "encourage" me to get back in.

I recieved a typical JW forward with the "annual meeting notes".

I think it was the same one that was copy and pasted here in one of the threads. That alone will get most JWs believing it, although they will wait for it to be in print.

Question: how many JWs will just say "that's not new, they were always the FDS?"
